Summary of his thesis
This project takes an interdisciplinary approach to evaluate the quality and quantity of resources used in urban food gardens (UFGs) – food, water, and soil – and their effects on society and the environment, particularly in light of climate change and environmental pollution. While the experiments and data collection are primarily conducted in France and Vietnam, we collaborate with colleagues from other countries to develop an assessment framework for UFGs that can be implemented in different cities. The results of our study are expected to draw attention from citizens and lawmakers to UFGs, the benefits they provide beyond food – such as physical and mental health enhancements – and how they should be responsibly managed in an era of heightened uncertainty and risks.
